Back to school. Seriously, is anything so motivating as a new school year? Don't get me wrong - the end of those long summer days with relaxed schedules is sad, for sure. But new school supplies, new faces in a classroom, new school clothes (and all those great sales!) - also pretty great!
Final summer fêtes. What better way to celebrate summer's twilight than with a little gathering at dusk? Only a few short weeks before pumpkins, leaves, and cinnamon usurp our ideas for those fantastic BBQ party themes and recipes I've been eye-ing on Pinterest and promising myself I would try.
Football season. And maybe more specifically, tailgating season. There are so many creative ways to show team spirit these days (and so many creative ways to make cheesy dips) that it's not really that tough to give up the summer party themes.
August birthdays. My family has a bonanza of birthdays at the end of summer - husband, Coppertop #1, dad, sister, MIL, SIL, and, of course, Coppertops itself. This generally makes me reflective about life (I have a seven year old! We have been in Denver for three years!) and gives me some clarity about goals and priorities for the year ahead.
Our farm share harvest. We belong to a fantastic CSA (Monroe Organic Farms
) and are now getting fun things like Colorado melons and Western Slope peaches...totally worth the wait. There's just something about fruit growing and ripening over a season, no?
