It was about a year ago that I began my online paper shop, with the goal of creating interesting, niche, sophisticated things out of paper. I wanted the products I made to somehow intrinsically carry the message that I believe deeply, and that led me to create Coppertops in the first place: paper is powerful. Starting an online shop has coincided with many other exciting things for my business in the last year, all of which have given focus to the development of an initial comprehensive line of products.
The focus? Wine.
From the first brainstorming sessions about what Coppertops could become, it was high on my list to produce wine paper goods that reflect what I love about both wine and paper. Beyond being delicious, wine is like paper in that it connects people, and embodies a very warm and elegant approach to hosting and deepening relationships. It takes things up a notch. It can begin and end a social gathering, be a gift both to and from a hostess, foster intimacy, reflection, and gratitude, and - when selected with care - can seamlessly complement food and serve to enhance and elevate a social gathering.
I have been so excited that I’ve been able to take the wine component of Coppertops in the direction that I have in the last several months, setting up a product display with a great local retail partners (Stapleton Wine Cellars, and more to come!), my first-ever retail booth at Telluride Wine Festival (pictures here), and a carefully curated wine tab here, in my online shop.
I’ve got dozens of ideas for new Coppertops products and plans for business growth in the next couple of months and years, and I’m looking forward to seeing the wine line of products expand, along with products lines around gifting, stationery, hosting and more. For me, it all fits together – finding ways to set the tone of an event or interaction, and, ultimately, inspiring and connecting people in a tangible way.
